MAJOR work costing £27 million to widen White Rose Way is back on track.

The last beam needed to be lifted into place over the East Coast Mainline has been installed as part of work to build a bridge over one of Doncaster’s busiest routes.

It means six of the nine beams needed to support the new dual carriageway are in place. The remainder do not affect the railway line which was closed during the works.

However, White Rose Way will remain closed between 9pm and 6am on Thursday and Friday. Between 9pm and 8am over the next two Saturday and Sundays the road will also be closed.

All work is subject to weather conditions.

Work which was expected to take place over Christmas was postponed because of high winds.

The bridge is set to be open in November.
