Your community champions are set to be recognised tonight at a glittering awards ceremony at Doncaster Racecourse.

Earlier this year we asked you to nominate the people who make you make you proud to live and work in Doncaster - and tonight the winners of the Doncaster Pride Awards will be revealed.

The awards are run in partnership with the Doncaster Free Press and Doncaster Council, and aim to recognise exceptional people in Doncaster that have done something really special or given something back to their local community - and have been designed to recognise people from all walks of life, young and old for a range of different contributions.

There are 12 award categories, which are: fundraiser of the year, educational person of the year, inspirational young person, mayor’s award for lifetime achievement, award for bravery, neighbourhood superstar, sporting hero, special achievement in the community, carer of the year, service with a smile, council worker of the year, and love where you live.

We will be bringing you news of the winners live from the awards so check www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk tonight for full details.

Next week’s Free Press, which comes out on October 31, will also feature an eight page awards supplement.
