IT was champagne all the way for three NHS workers who were chosen for an early Christmas present - some special festive pampering.

Included among the lucky women chosen by their colleagues for some TLC at Parkgate’s Asda for Living, was Kilnhurst nurse Helen Levers, who was nominated by matron Ann Kerrane for her hard work and career improvement.

Helen works and also cares for her husband, who was seriously injured in an accident three years ago.

She was joined by “inspirational” Susan Seddon of the speech and language department. Colleagues said Susan’s caring nature helps her get the best out of patients, and despite a difficult 12 months she has stayed motivated and enthusiastic.

Irene Wright, deputy department manager in dermatology, was nominated by her manager, Tara Lees, for going beyond the call of duty while caring for her elderly parents and one-year old grandson.

The three winners were selected after Asda Living invited the trust’s departments to nominate colleagues deserving of a special treat.

TRFT’s chief nurse, Juliette Greenwood said: “The winners have gone over and above and have shown a great dedication to balancing work and challenges at home.

“I feel they have maintained an excellent approach to their work whilst experiencing some personal adversity”.
