The teenager was a passenger in a red Peugeot 306 that was thought to be stolen that was being pursued by police after failing to stop in Thorne before going head onto into a JCB.
The driver of the Peugeot, Andrew McMinn, 19, appeared at Doncaster Magistrates Court yesterday, where he was remanded in custody until Friday, 1 June, at Doncaster Crown Court.
Gail Stobbs, Scott’s mother said: “Scott, who was so tragically taken too soon, was a very special son, nephew, cousin, grandson and a good friend to many who will always be loved.”
The crash happened on Station Road, Stainforth on Monday at 1pm, with Scott being airlifted to Leeds General, where he died at 4.25pm on Wednesday.
A force spokesman confirmed the issue was referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission as a matter of routine but the IPCC has ruled the crash should be investigated by South Yorkshire officers.
The driver of the JCB was not injured. Three police officers sustained minor injuries from an earlier incident during the pursuit.
