Tankers tackle floods in Crowle

FLOODS: Tankers pumping out from the drains in Crowle in July. They returned again this week after persistent rainfall.

TANKERS have had to be sent to Crowle to clear floodwater following persistent rainfall.

Severn Trent Water and North Lincolnshire Council sent the vehicles to Axholme Avenue on Wednesday to clear a large pool of standing water that had gathered across the width of the road.

Homes across Crowle were flooded with raw sewage in July but Severn Trent Water said they have since been working to resolve the issue.

Nearly 140 flood alerts have been put in place across England, but The Met Office said the Isle of Axholme will be clear of rain in the next couple of days.

Forecasters have predicted it will be dry for the remainder of today, with clear skies on Friday and fog on Saturday. Showers are forecast for Sunday.

A spokesperson for Severn Trent Water said: “The majority of the flooding is due to surface water. A couple of hours after the rain has stopped this should start to clear, but if you notice that there is still flooding call us on 0800 783 4444.

“If you have flooding inside your home or business, or if you notice any sewage in the flood water, please call us immediately so that we can make sure it is dealt with as quickly as possible.

“For any customer affected by flooding from a watercourse, for example a river or a stream, please contact the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.”
