COUNCILLORS have fully backed war heroes including Ben Parkinson and Craig Wood who have been hit with changes by the Ministry of Defence.
Former Lance Bombardier Ben, who suffered horrific injuries following a bomb blast in Afghanistan, has encountered a series of blows with proposals to discharge him from the Army, being threatened with the loss of his military status and crucially having access to specialist military rehabilitation removed.
He has also been told his injury compensation has been capped at £570,000 rather than the full amount of more than £1 million.
Coun Glyn Jones proposed a motion which was passed during the full council meeting which condemned proposals that Ben, from Bessacarr, and others in a similar position had been hit by.
Mayor Peter Davies also said he has written to the Secretary of State lending his support to Ben and his family.
