STAYING AFLOAT: Students from the sport and public services department at Doncaster College were challenged to build a raft and sail it as part of a team building exercise.

GROUPS of students from Doncaster College were tasked with building a raft and staying afloat as part of a team building exercise.

The teams from the sport and public services department were out on the marina, off Chappell Drive, where they built their raft out of equipment including barrels, poles and ropes.

They also had to research and test their rafts on the water before their 30 minutes challenge ended.

The aim of the activity was to help the students gain new skills in areas such as communication, problem-solving and working as part of a team.

Lecturer Stewart Sanderson said: “It was a great experience for the learners and helped them with communication and team building skills.”
