STRIKING lorry drivers based at Tesco’s Doncaster distribution depot took a protest over their threatened redundancy to the heart of Government.

Members of the Unite union waved placards outside the Tesco Express Store near the Houses of Parliament in London, on what was the first day of a three day strike, and were photographed protesting in front of Big Ben.

The 200 drivers say they face losing their jobs by Christmas after they were transferred from their Tesco contracts to haulier Eddie Stobart.

They have been issued with notice of termination of employment, with no promise that the drivers will be re-employed once the 90 days are up.

They also met with MPs during the visit.
