Five members of staff have been suspended at a Rawmarsh care home after a pensioner in their care died.
Three day staff and two members of the night team at Lord Hardy Court, Green Rise, Upper Haugh, are being investigated.
It is understood the suspensions come following the death of an elderly resident, who was left for 24 hours because it was thought they were asleep when they were in fact in a coma.
The home is one of two run by Rotherham Council. Some 70 members of staff at this home and another in Dinnington are ‘at risk’ of losing their jobs due to restructuring.
Rotherham Borough Council’s Safeguarding Adults Board is investigating and the care home remains open.
