Special tours at Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum

TRANSPORT buffs seeking a nostalgia fix should get themselves along to Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum on October 1 and 2.

The venue will be hosting a special 1950s weekend on both Saturday and Sunday, featuring trolleybus centenary tour events.

To celebrate the start of Britain’s first trolleybus services in 1911, the tours will take visitors through a chronological history of the transport, set against social changes of the period.

Tour places are limited so booking upon arrival at the museum is recommended.

In addition to these special events all the usual attractions will feature, including a selection of trolleybuses in operation, motorbus tours, ‘have a go’ simulators, a digital lecture theatre, 1960s shop window displays and a 1950s prefab.

There is also a nature trail, children’s playground, souvenir shop, refreshments and a cafe.

Admission is £6 for adults, seniors £5, concessions £4 and family tickets (two adults and two to four concessions inclusive) cost £19.

Opening times for both days is 11am to 5pm with last admissions at 4pm.
