Over 100 Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley Rock Choir members are joining together for an exciting live performance at Sheffield City Hall on Tuesday July 17 2012, from 8pm.

When musician and singer Caroline Redman Lusher first started Rock Choir in 2005, little did she realise what an amazing phenomenon she’d created. There was no big game plan – just a burning desire to reignite people’s joy of singing, and give them a fun, life enhancing experience. And it seems people just can’t get enough of it.

Seven years later and Rock Choir is the UK’s most popular and largest amateur contemporary choir, with over 16,000 members rehearsing in more than 200 towns nationwide. Unlike more traditional choirs and choral societies, there are no auditions and no need to read music or have any previous singing experience. Media have dubbed Rock Choir ‘The People’s Choir,’ because of the way it welcomes and nurtures people of all ages and abilities.

The singers may be amateurs, yet the energy, joy and professionalism of their performances is exceptional and infectious. Rock Choir has attracted a huge following and performs regularly across the country and has made numerous TV appearances, recently featuring in the popular ITV1 documentary The Choir That Rocks’.

For their Sheffield appearance in the City Hall’s Grand Ballroom, local leader Kate Threlfall will conduct the singers through Rock Choir’s uplifting repertoire of pop, chart, Motown and gospel favourites.

“We’re ecstatic about performing at Sheffield City Hall” said Kate. “Rock Choir’s a big part of the local community, and it’s fantastic to be able to give members the opportunity to perform at such a prestigious venue. We’re going to make it a night to remember”

To catch Rock Choir in action, tickets can be bought from the Sheffield City Hall website Sheffield City Hall or by calling the Box Office on 0114 2 789 789.

If you want to go a step further and get involved with Rock Choir yourself, new members are always welcome and anyone interested in joining should visit Rock Choir to book a free taster session at their nearest Rock Choir location.
