SLIDESHOW: Pupils enhance skills with reporting and film-making
A MASS media workshop saw Isle youngsters learn the basics of film-making and newspaper reporting this week.
Youngsters from primary schools gathered at The Axholme Academy in Crowle for two sessions on Monday.
Year five pupils from Luddington and Garthorpe Primary School, Crowle Primary Academy, Althorpe and Keadby Primary School and St Norbert’s Catholic Primary in Crowle all created puppet shows which they then filmed for a DVD.
It involved youngsters coming up with a story line and then operating the puppets, while classmates filmed them.
Meanwhile, year seven and eight pupils from the academy turned their hand to newspaper writing.
Media tutor Peter Craig, from Lincoln University, and journalist Rob Sunley, visited to help teach students how to put together their school newspaper - The Ax News.
Hayley Drayton, 27, media arts technician at the academy, said: “We had an Olympics theme for the puppet sessions and they came up with some really interesting ideas.
“The film will be put into a DVD and kept at the schools for future generations to watch.
“Our academy students really enjoyed the newspaper writing session and they are looking forward to publishing the school paper in February.”
