SLIDESHOW: Doncaster remembers war dead

This was the moment Doncaster remembered its sons who have died fighting for their country.

Community leaders joined armed forces veterans at the war memorial on South Parade to lay a wreath on Remembrance Sunday.

Among those at the ceremony were wounded war heroes Ben Parkinson, from Bessacarr, and Craig Wood, of Woodlands. Both lost limbs serving in Afghanistan.

The wreath laying was followed by a parade to St George’s Minster of St George and a salute at the Mansion House, and then finished with a Service of Remembrance at the Minster.

Tomorrow, Monday November 11, there will be a two minutes silence to mark Armistice Day at 11am, following a ceremony starting at 10.25am.
