There was plenty of fun in the sun as summer finally made an appearance.

As temperatures sizzled Dearne folk made the most of the sunshine by turning out in their droves for a number of community events.

There were plenty of games and goodies at a summer picnic to mark the end of term at Swinton Brookfield Primary School. Rugs were out, hats and sunscreen were on and parents took time out to enjoy the sunny celebration with their youngsters.

And funds are still being counted up for Goldthorpe Parish Church coffers, following its busy annual summer fair with a mix of traditional games, colourful stalls and full range of refreshments.

The good news for everyone is that the hot weather is set to continue, with temperatures expected to continue to be around the mid 20s over the next few days.
