A CHOIR has staged its annual concert to raise money for a children’s charity.

The Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers raised £1,700 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice during the performance at the town’s minster.

The concert was sponsored by South Yorkshire and Chesterfield Area Committee of the Co-operative Group and also featured the Slaithwaite Brass Band.

Choir spokesman Dorothy Miller said: “I am delighted with the amount that has been raised, which was only possible because of the generosity of the Co-operative Group who fully covered all the expenses.”

She also thanked the audience for their support in helping to raise the money.
