BARNSLEY bachelor Shaun Vincent has finally claimed his Lotto jackpot prize - after responding to an appeal to find the winner of an unclaimed ticket.
The 42-year-old Royston man bought a lucky dip ticket from his local Sainsbury’s and was looking at the wearebarnsley.co.uk website when he noticed somewhere in the Barnsley area had won but not claimed the jackpot prize.
He quickly checked his numbers and realised he had won £1,158,038 - some 17 days after the top Lotto prize draw was made.
Shaun, who works at a meat slicing plant, said: “I sat looking at the numbers and my ticket for about 20 mins – I couldn’t believe it had happened to me and that I was the missing winner.
“I told my mum and she didn’t believe me – she told me to stop mucking about!
“I’m still in shock and it still hasn’t really sunk in yet.
“I’ve also told my boss and asked for two weeks off work to get my head round it all.”
A lifetime Liverpool FC fan, Shaun has only been to see them play once so top of the list is a season ticket to see his beloved club.
“Living at home with his sister, he’s also looking at buying a house locally and learning to drive.
He added: “I’ve got two holidays with mates booked already for this year.
“I’m going to take my time and work out what I want to do with the money.”
