South Axholme Academy enjoyed another excellent year of GCSE results over the summer break.
Speaking on the school’s return after the holidays, assistant headteacher Scott Barlow explained that 95.3 per cent of students gained five A*-C grades at GCSE or an equivalent level, which is an increase of 11 per cent, with 63 per cent achieving five *A-C grades including English and mathematics.
He said: “There were some outstanding performances by students in the sciences, in physics students achieved 96 per cent A*-C, chemistry students achieved 96 per cent A*-C and biology students achieved 93 per cent A*-C.
“In mathematics the students continued to perform well with an excellent 82 per cent A*-C.
“Congratulations to the class of 2011–12 for their fantastic achievements.”
Headteacher Mrs Marie Lister added: “This year’s excellent results are a culmination of endless hours of hardwork and dedication by students, teachers and their parents.”
