Road closed after lorry hits bridge in Thorne

Ferry Road in Thorne remains closed in both directions between the Cowick Road junction and the A615 Selby Road junction after a vehicle struck a bridge yesterday.

A lorry driver found himself in a tight spot after he got his vehicle stuck underneath the bridge at the town's railway station.

The Green Group lorry, which was emblazoned with the slogan 'dedicated to service', got jammed underneath the bridge at Thorne North railway station just after 8am.

The collision with the bridge caused significant damage to both the front and the back of the vehicle.

Police were called out to the scene to assist.
