Doncaster Rovers are now in league with Virgin Trains, whose footy-friendly stance gives supporters chance to enjoy first class match day to remember.

The regional long distance operator that recently scored East Coast inter-city superior satisfaction and performance results is now united with Sky Bet League Two-toppers (illustrated here by similar Darlington FC travel sponsor partnership and, for die-hard away day fans who travel tracks far and wide to follow their chosen club, timely stadia railway station signs quiz).

The company, new training kit sponsors, today kicks off its partnership by offering followers opportunity to win two VIP tickets to Rovers’ April 22 trip to Wycombe, complete with complimentary first class rail travel for both.

Rovers' head of commercial Andrew Whitham said: “This partnership promises to be particularly fruitful for supporters as we look to develop offers which can really benefit fans.

“In Doncaster Rovers, Virgin Trains has identified a club that is on the up and can provide a range of opportunities to expose its brand, not only to the people of Doncaster but throughout the UK.

“It is extremely exciting to be working with a company that has such a strong record in football, and we look forward to exploring the many possibilities that await through this partnership.

“We expect demand for tickets for the Wycombe match to be high. Travelling south in style with Virgin Trains should add to the sense of occasion for our supporters.”

This season's top scorer John Marquis, frequent user of Virgin Trains, commented: “This is terrific news. Virgin Trains have always been my first choice as I commute to visit my family. They offer fantastic service and make it much easier for me to visit my family and friends.”

Virgin Trains East Coast general manager Natasha Wilding said: “We’re delighted to sponsor the training shirts and become Doncaster Rovers’ latest signing!

“Virgin Trains is proud to support customers and communities on its route, and Doncaster is a very important part of this railway, with direct links to many destinations, including both of the UK’s capital cities.

“We’re exploring how we can take this partnership forward and, in the meantime, are pleased to kick this off through our competition to win a memorable match day experience for two lucky supporters.”

Doncaster station deputy team leader Lindsey Hudson, who follows Rovers with train driver husband Gary when they are not working for Virgin Trains, added: “This is a real community club and people from the town are very proud of it.

"It’s great that Virgin Trains has started to work with it to support our club and our community. My husband and I are both big Rovers fans and he follows them home and away when he is not driving trains.

“I think it’s exciting when a big brand gets involved and it’s at a great time because the club seem to be on the up and there is a real buzz about football in the town.”
