Another week goes by and we are subjected to yet another hideous maternity outfit from celebrity mum-to-be Kim Kardashian.
Ever since the reality TV star announced her pregnancy with rapper Kanye West she has been pictured wearing the most unflattering outfits.
I can’t speak from experience but I do imagine it is a dilemma selecting an outfit when you feel like you’re smuggling a bowling ball around (even if you have your own stylist).
But as much as I like getting glammed up, surely finding out you are with child gives you the perfect excuse to stop all those years of sucking your stomach in to wear figure hugging dresses and give your feet a rest and ditch the heels?
But not for defiant Kim who is determined to spend her pregnancy looking uncomfortable squeezed into her normal clothes.
Whilst most women in her position would be opting for flowing dresses and elasticated waistbands Kim is still waddling around in her attention grabbing spray-on dresses.
Surely a tight fitting leather pencil skirt, 10 inch heels and a low cut top are not the right look when you’ve got a growing baby bump?
She just looks so uncomfortable.
I love heels and don’t think you should completely compromise on style just because you’re pregnant but surely it’s time to make at least some wardrobe changes?
She has received a fair amount of stick and column inches for her attention-grabbing outfits that have included skin-tight leather mini dresses, followed by boobs billowing out of an unflattering maxi dress.
But whilst I’m sure Kim thinks she’s maintaining her own sense of style, to me she simply looks like she’s had a big meal, rather than being pregnant.
No one is saying you should start wearing sack like clothing with no shape but trying to squeeze into your pre-pregnancy outfits is simply not going to work.
I have friends who have rocked maternity wear and proved it’s not about completely changing your wardrobe but dressing to suit.
You can still look glamorous with a few more inches of material in your garments.
There’s really no excuse now as most high street shops now have their own maternity sections - I’ve even been known to pick up the odd maternity item myself if it happens to be in the sale (just to wear in everyday life as I can’t resist a bargain).
Unfortunately for the rest of us she’s got until July to go so please Kim Kardashian and any other mum-to-be out there, take advantage of the situation ditch the heels and bask in your pregnancy podge.
