PUPILS from Conisbrough’s De Warenne Academy will have the day off so they can watch the Olympic Torch being carried through their town.
Staff and students will get the chance to see the event as the 26th has been re-scheduled as a staff training day.
De Warenne Academy’s principal Gill Pollard said: “We have written to parents to confirm the date is a training day. This will be a once in a life-time experience for everyone and an honour for Conisbrough. It’s just brilliant that the flame will actually pass through the town!”
The iconic Olympic Torch torch will arrive at Conisbrough at 9:50am, It will be carried along Old Road from the Hill Top Road junction, then along Church Street, on to Castle Street, Castle Hill and pass Conisbrough Castle.
