classic cars: head to The Angel Inn in Misson on Monday for a family fun day and a display of classic cars. Landlady Simone Fallon said: “We’re expecting 30 to 40 cars and it should be a really pleasant family day out. We regularly host these displays on summer bank holidays and they prove popular - especially when the weather is good.” The pub is open from midday to 2pm, with a barbecue from 2pm to 4pm.
all new entertainment: all new trend Tagi-oku is coming to The Cross Keys pub. Starting from Saturday, September 1, there will be regular nights of what could become the next big trend at the Darfield pub. “This is entertainment with a difference,” said Local Vocals entertainment provider Scarlett Jay. Tagi-oku is a mash up of a variety of entertainment styles brought together in one night. “Tagi-oku literally means Versatile Entertainment,” added Darin Kay, Local Vocals entertainments manager. “The concept of a Tagi-oku night relies on the presenter being a professional artiste who will perform during the evening. Anyone who wants to join in and sing - karaoke style - is also welcome to grab the mic, or even any performers with instruments can take the stage. Tagi-oku nights also contain an element where everyone can have the opportunity to win prizes, this is not a singing competition absolutely anyone within the venue has a chance to open the gold box and scoop the cash whether they sing or not.” Following the pub’s complete makeover, Cross Keys new landlord and landlady Steve and Paula Gibbons are on a mission to retain the old with the new. “We are thrilled to be hosting Tagi-oku here and working with Local Vocals,” said Paula, “Karaoke just had a facelift, and I’m excited to say we are the first to have it, I’m sure all our customers will enjoy it.” Local couple Steve and Paula who also met in Darfield nearly 20 years ago come with a whole host of experience. “My parents used to run The Longbow pub just down the road for 18 years.” added Paula. “We both love it here and are glad to be back in the area. We want to give the community what it deserves and bring back the oomph to Darfield”.
