Police confirm second knifepoint robbery in Sheffield suburb in space of 24 hours

A woman has been robbed at knifepoint at a cashpoint outside a shop, in the second report of a robbery on a Sheffield street in the space of 12 hours.

A man entered the Betfred shop on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne armed with what is believed to have been a knife and threatened members of staff, before making off with a quantity of cash at around 9.50pm on Thursday.

Police have now confirmed to The Star that a woman was robbed at knifepoint at the cashpoint at Martin's convenience store, also on Northern Avenue, at around 10am on Thursday - around 12 hours before the Betfred robbery.

Further information on the cashpoint robbery is not yet known, and a South Yorkshire Police spokesman said they could not confirm whether officers were investigating the possibility that the two incidents may be linked.
