Fire crews rushed out to Windhill Primary School at about 1am last Wednesday, April 25, after yobs had set fire to a pay area.

The plastic flooring had been pushed up against a set of doors, which was then set on fire causing windows to smash and damage to the doors.

Classrooms and corridors were smoke damaged and it is believed the school was closed for part of last week.

Arsonists also struck around the same time at nearby Coniston Court where a fire had been started in a wheelie bin and pushed up against the entrance of a community centre, causing damage to the door and guttering.

There were no injuries sustained by anyone.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 35 or 40 of 25/04/2012.
