PUPILS were in charge when visitors were shown around a school.
An open day at Hill House School gave both pupils and staff the opportunity to tell visitors what they most like about the school which attracts youngsters from the Isle, and why it is seen as a special environment for children. Those who looked around the busy building were able to see all departments at work. The main attractions at this year’s open event included: science practicals or the chance to be a rocket scientist for the day, joining the award-winning senior choir as it was put through its paces by the school’s singing teachers, trying an instrument with the Jazz Band in the music studio, and watching hockey drills with the county championship-winning U14 team. There were also rugby challenges, a penalty shoot-out competition and performances from drama students’ production of Romeo and Juliet.
