A RAIL boss has visited Thorne North railway station to see what improvements can be made in future.

Northern Rail client stakeholder manager Stuart Rands looked round the station with Don Valley MP Caroline Flint to discuss access issues and the fact the ticket office would be spared from national closures.

The main issue Mr Rands wanted to discuss on his visit was the access difficulties for passengers travelling east, because only one platform has a ramp.

Ms Flint said: “The next step is to improve access to one platform where passengers have to use a stair bridge or steep steps. That is clearly not in the interests of passengers who are elderly, disabled or with children in buggies”
