A DONCASTER student is being held up as a shining example for children in care.

Philip Lacey, aged 20, is featured in a publication called Go Further Go Higher: A Guide to Post-16 Opportunities For Young People in Care. The booklet outlines options available to youngsters in care, a group ‘under-represented in further and higher education’.

Philip, who studies business administration at Doncaster College and recently left care, said: “After I have finished my course I would love to go to university and that is my main aim. After that I don’t know what I’ll do, but for the minute I will just continue to enjoy my time in education.”

David Bromby, of The University of Sheffield, said: “The inspirational stories that they have shared hopefully show prospective students in care that, with determination and perseverance, all is possible regardless of their past.”
