JUST one person turned up to grill mayor Peter Davies at a public question time event yesterday.
Residents had the chance to raise their pressing issues with Mr Davies during the open event which is held at the beginning of the council’s fortnightly cabinet meeting.
However, just the one resident Doug Wright, of Cantley, showed up during the 20-minute open forum.
He asked the mayor whether the town had enough volunteers to run the libraries when they leave council control at the end of March. Mr Davies said he would look into it.
Mr Wright said: “I just came to ask the question. It is absolutely essential for anything to do with the council that people come along.”
Mr Davies said he would contine to hold public question time events despite the poor turnout and people could contact him via email or post as well.
He added: “I think it is vitally important that democracy includes the right of people to question people like me in a public place.”
