One hurt and another dead in two Barnsley collisions

An elderly man was left seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Darfield.

A green Vauxhall Corsa was travelling along Garden Street, towards the junction with Barnsley Road, when it was in collision with an 82-year-old man.

The man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment after the incident on Wednesday January 7 at 5.35pm.

Meanwhile, a 75-year-old man died in hospital following another road traffic collision two days before the incident in Darfield.

The multi-vehicle collision happened in Broadway, Barnsley, at the junction with Woodland Drive on Monday January 5 at 4pm.

It is reported a red Jaguar XJS was in collision with a white DAF lorry, which in turn was in collision with a blue Peugeot 206 and a white Ford Transit van.

A male pensioner was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but died on Saturday, January 10.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about any of the above incidents to come forward.

Witnesses to the Darfield collision should call police on 101 quoting incident number 686 of 7 January 2015.

Information about the Barnsley incident should be passed to police on 101, quoting incident number 591 of 5 January 2015.
