Services to mark Remembrance Day in Mexborough Conisbrough Swinton and Wath

THE Dearne Valley will gather in silent tribute this Sunday to honour servicemen and women killed in conflict.

Our war dead will be remembered during a two minutes silence at 11am at memorials across the area on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. A lunch for the gathering will follow at the L.N.E.R. Club in Rowms Lane.

Enis Dalton , secretary of the Mexborough Swinton and Kilnhurst branch of the Royal British Legion, said: “Please attend Remembrance Sunday. We are remembering that the names on the war memorial gave their today for your tomorrow.”

Veterans and civic leaders will gather outside Mexborough Police Station on Sunday from 10.15am to march to the war memorial for an act of remembrance at 11am.

At Conisbrough on Sunday here will be a Service at St Peter’s Church at 9.30am followed by a Parade to the War Memorial in the Park below the Castle. At 11am there will be the Silence and wreath laying and a March Past.

At Wath a parade marches from Burlington WMC at 9.30am for aservice at 10am at All Saints Church, with two minutes silence at 11am at the war memorial.

At Denaby on Monday here will be a short service in All Saints Church at 10.15am followed by a walk to the War Memorial in the Flower Park.

At 11am there will be the Silence and wreath laying. Many school children will be attending.

Swinton residents are asked to gather at the town’s memorial near St Margaret’s Church from 10.45am for an act of remembrance from 11am.
