BUS fares across the Stagecoach service have gone up by 10p across Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, though some saver ticket prices remain the same.

The bus company blames rising costs, and a jump of £1.3m on its fuel bill, for increases.

But the Barnsley Dayrider remains £4 and a Megarider £8, while the Dearne Valley area Dayrider is still £3.70 and the Megarider ticket £10.50. South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive has also put up child concessionary bus fares in South Yorkshire from 40p to 50p.

A CHARITY for the elderly has changed its name. Age Concern Rotherham is now Age UK Rotherham, and will use the Age UK logo and brand. The charity has supported older people in the borough since 1974.

SWINTON’S Knit and Natter group wants more members to join it at Bethany Evangelical Church in a project to make hats and scarves, which will be sent out to needy children in Europe in November. The group meets in the church on the last Friday of each month, between 1-3pm.

BAD weather will drive 41 per cent of people in Yorkshire and Humberside to think about a move abroad according to research by the UK’s largest private removals firm.

Bishop’s Move said just 18 and 21 per cent feel that way in the West and East Midlands respectively.
