ARE you having a baby – or thinking about having one? Barnsley Hospital midwives will hold a drop-in session at Kings Oak Children’s Centre in Wombwell on Saturday (March 5) from 10-11.30am.

They will be joined by health visitors, children’s centre staff, nursery nurses and many others, with advice on healthy eating, stopping smoking, emotional health and wellbeing, infant feeding and many other topics, including home safety and the book start scheme.

WATH Library is taking part in a national scheme to give away a million free books. World Book Night, on Saturday (March 5), will see the books donated by 20,000 passionate readers across the country. A special event is being held at Wath Library tonight (Thursday) from 7.30-9.30pm, when staff will give away more than 150 books. Tickets – £1, including refreshments – are available from Wath Library on 01709 873542.

SWIMMERS are asked to take part in a fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Swimathon Foundation at Wath Leisure Centre. Swimathon 2011 takes place on Saturday, April 9, from 5.15-7.45pm and Sunday, April 10, from 6-8.30pm. For entry forms, contact 0845 3670036.

SHOPPERS in Mexborough town centre are being asked to give a greyhound a new home. On Saturday (March 5), the Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust (LGT) will be on the High Street with a number of the dogs, from 10.30am-2.30pm.
