A NEW play area has been officially opened by school children in Swinton.
Youngsters from Brookfield Primary School cut a ribbon on Tuesday, June 19, to launch the revamped play area at Dun Street.
The facility has been funded through £41,000 Landfill Tax Credits from WREN together with smaller financial contributions from Wentworth North Area Housing Panel and the three Swinton ward councillors’ Community Leadership Fund.
The new playground set on an existing site and blends natural elements with traditional play equipment.
This allows children to have a varied play experience and offers children a stimulating and challenging playground environment for exploring and developing their abilities.
Councillor Ken Wyatt, who also attended the opening, said: “There has been a play area on the site for many years but investment has been needed to spruce it up.
“We though it would be a nice idea to let local school kids conduct the official opening as they are the ones who will be using it.”
