NEWS: News.

NEWS: News.

Twenty new apprenticeships have been announced by North Lincolnshire Homes.

The company is supporting National Apprentice week by announcing it has the apprenticeships available from April.

Since 2010 the region’s largest social landlord has been offering an apprenticeship scheme in both maintenance service and for office based jobs.

As part of the scheme, trade apprentices undertake a relevant qualification up to NVQ level 3 at North Lindsey College and gas engineers study at Grimsby College for up to three years.

Office based apprentices study towards a qualification from the Chartered Institute of Housing and an NVQ level 2 through Dutton Fisher Associates.

Since the scheme was launched 24 people have taken part and 12 have gone on to become permanent members of staff at North Lincolnshire Homes.

Katie Walmsley (20) is one of the apprentices who was offered a full time position as a works planner in the Maintenance department. She said: “I would recommend an apprenticeship with North Lincolnshire to other people as it’s a good company to work for.

“Every day is different and it’s nice to get an insight into all the different departments the organisation has. As an apprentice it opens different windows and gives you more options within the company.

“Within a few months of starting the apprenticeship I was offered the chance to run my own team and I now do the job on a permanent basis.

Jo Sugden, Head of HR said: “Apprenticeships are a great way to get an insight into an organisation and to get on the job training while earning nationally recognised qualifications.

“I’m delighted we’re going to be offering another 20 people apprenticeships over the next year.

“Our promise is everything we do is put back into local communities and that’s the same for our skills and experience too. Through apprenticeships we’re able to share what we know with young people who are looking to kick start their careers.

“If you want to learn a trade, work with our customer service team or to learn all about housing come and talk to us about one our apprenticeships.”
