The cafe is run by the BABES volunteers (Babies and Breastfeeding Extra Support) and has proved very popular with both new mums and mums-to-be.

Volunteers Helen Harris and Nicky Durning are both Epworth mums with personal experience of breastfeeding and both are dedicated to helping other new mums on their journey as parents.

“This is a group run by mums for mums and we want everyone in the area to know we’re here to support them,” said Helen.

“Mum-to-mum support is invaluable when you are at the beginning of your breastfeeding journey and sharing your experiences by chatting to other mums over a cup of coffee can make a huge difference.”

The group takes place at Epworth Children’s Centre every Monday between 10am and 11.30am and Emma Speers, mum to 10-week-old Isabelle and two-year-old Maisie, is a regular attendee.

She said: “This group is absolutely fantastic. As a new mum living out in a rural community, you don’t always have access to everything that is available in town. The support on offer here is great.”
