A Doncaster mum has been moved so much by the senseless murder of Drummer Lee Rigby last week that she is organising a march in his memory in the town centre.

Lavina Barclay, whose 21-year-old daughter Vicky serves in the Royal Logistics Corps, is setting up the march from the Mansion House to the war memorial outside Elmfield Park on June 23.

Her event is timed to coincide with a march planned in Woolwich, where the soldier was senselessly hacked to death last Wednesday.

2I know that if I wasn’t a full-time mum I’d be going down to the march in Woolwich out of respect for Lee and his family,” the 41-year-old from Wheatley said.

““And I thought if I felt like that, then other people would too.

“Lee’s murder was shocking and I know it has affected a lot of people.”

A Facebook page – doncasterstrong – set up to support the event already has 200 members.

Lavina, who’s brother is also in the services, added: “Because of my family connections this has hit home really hard and I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way and will want to show their support and respect.”
