The race to be recognised as the owner of Doncaster’s smallest dog is hotting up - and Wheatley resident Bev Pearman thinks she may possess the town’s tiniest canine.

Bev contacted the Free Press after seeing the story on Pomeranian pooch Honia, whose owner Xenia Lee believes her pet is the smallest Donny dog. But after studying the photo of Honia, care worker Bev thinks her Chihuahua Mimi is smaller. The seven-month-old is short-haired, and Bev is adamant she has never seen a smaller hound.

“I’m not sure of Mimi’s exact measurements, but she is only slightly taller than a tin of baked beans’, explained Bev, 41.

“She’s so tiny that I can easily take her to work with me.”

Whether Mimi really is the borough’s tiniest dog is yet to be proved, but one thing is for certain, Bev has been assured by Mimi’s vet that the pup will not grow any larger.
