Over 65 jobs could be created with the development of a new 24-hour McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant at Parkgate.
The new outlet is set to be built on a site between Rotherham Road and Stonerow Way, and will feature outdoor seating and 29 parking spaces.
Should the plans for the development go ahead, job opportunities will be both full and part-time, with local workers recruited to the posts, said a spokesman for the company.
He said: “I can confirm that we have submitted plans for a new restaurant at Parkgate, Rotherham.
“A new McDonald’s would bring investment to the area and provide at least 65 full and part-time jobs for the community. We are excited about the prospect of investing in Rotherham and will be working with the Council on our plans.”
The McDonald’s chain has almost 1,200 restaurants operating in the UK currently and has plans to open around 400 more new drive-thru restaurants over the next ten years.
Another 40 jobs are set to be created within the same area, if discount store Aldi is given the go-ahead to build a new outlet at Parkgate. Plans are before Rotherham planners.
