Mass of tributes flood in for Lex

COUNTLESS tributes have been made to Alexander Strong since Friday, both here at the Bells and on multiple social media sites. Here are some examples:
John Hodgkins, headteacher of Epworth Primary School said: “As a school community we have been saddened by the news of the death of Lex, one of our pupils. “Lex’s bravery and courage has been an inspiration, as has the love and support from his parents and sister, Olivia. He was a much loved member of our school community and we will remember him with great affection and keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Dr Daniel Yeomanson, consultant oncologist at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Alexander was a lovely boy who put up with his treatment bravely and without complaint. He will be missed by all the staff at the hospital.”
Francis Edwards, External Clinical Manager at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice said: “It has been a privilege to have Alexander and his family here at this very sad time, and we hope that being here has brought them the space and comfort they have needed. Alexander was a tremendously brave and inspirational young man and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
Leesa Sharp, 43, of Wroot, helped to raise thousands of pounds for ‘Lexy’s Fund’.
She said: “The courage of Alex and his family has been really inspiring to me and everyone in Epworth.
“Alex’s memory will live on because we will continue fundraising in his name.”
People continue to post tributes on Facebook and Twitter for Lex. Martyn Broderick made a pictorial tribute for Youtube, and children have written poems, done drawings and dedicated balloons to their lost friend. Here are one or two examples from Facebook:
Joanne Heywood wrote: Maxine, Mark and Olivia, you are such a special and wonderful family, and left no stone unturned in the battle you and Lex fought. Lex was so loved by so many, and touched the hearts of everyone. His smile could have melted the snow in Lapland! I am so sorry to hear your news and send you so much love. Louise Brewster wrote: Good night my sweet angel I promise I will always love cherish and look after your family xxxx
And from Lindsey Thompson: I heard the name Alexander the Great and thought of your gorgeous little man and how he should be called ALEXANDER THE STRONG because that’s exactly what he was, an amazing young man who touched people’s hearts because he fought his battle with a smile on his face. Our church is praying for strength for you all as a family, I wish there was more we could do. Xxxxxx
