A CARING couple who met at a fair have certainly enjoyed the rollercoaster of love after celebrating their 65th anniversary.
For Kath and John Jones have this month reached the impressive milestone - which even the Queen has recognised and sent them a congratulatory card.
Mr and Mrs Jones, aged 87 and 83, met as teenagers at the Westfield Park fair in Balby.
And the loving pair are celebrating over six decades of marriage in the same year as the Queen and Prince Philip’s 65th anniversary. They have two children Eddy Jones and Glynis Muir, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
To celebrate their anniversary the Rossington couple invited friends and family to their home in Queen Mary’s Road.
Mrs Jones said: “We had a lovely celebration with all of our family and we were given some lovely flowers.
“We even got a card from the Queen which was a shock. My daughter Glynis organised it for me.
“I’m not sure what the secret is to a good marriage, we just really get on.
“We met at the fair when I was 16, it was just one of those things where we just happened to meet and here we are celebrating our 65th anniversary, it’s been lovely.”
