A DOTING dad who lost his daughter in a tragic road accident two years ago has raised £1,150 in her memory after completing a gruelling ten kilometre river swim.
Kevin Dunne, of Misterton, completed the River Dart open water 10k swim in memory of his 23-year-old daughter Hayleigh.
The swim is the aquatic equivalent of a marathon and about 398 lengths of a 25 metre pool.
Kevin, 54, who works as a community action officer for West Lindsey District Council and is the former head coach of South Axholme Sharks of which Hayleigh was a member, finished in a time of 2hrs 29mins and 19secs, coming in at 67 out of 671 competitors.
He said: “The water was choppy especially going up the estuary for the last four or five kilometres. It was hard work but I did quite a bit of training and got myself acclimatised beforehand”.
Kevin, is donating the money raised to Brake, the road safety charity.
