A brave business man has agreed to spend the day ‘locked’ in a barn, all to raise money for charity.

Dave Terry, will be ‘locked up’ in the Barn, behind the Bay Horse, Hatfield on Friday June 5 and will not be released until he raises £500 in donations.

The money raised will go towards building a new eco-friendly community building for Hatfield, which will be organised by the Barn Regeneration Project.

For over 50 years The Barn has served Hatfield Church and the Community. The present community building is too small for the demand.

This new building will be built close to the existing Barn, so that its use can continue until the new building is ready. The old building will then be demolished.

Tina O’Halloran, fundraiser for the project, said: “We need as many people to donate as much as they can spare so we can provide the people of Hatfield and surrounding areas with a new, fit for purpose, eco-friendly community building for them and their families and friends to use and enjoy well into the future.”

Dave will enter the barn at 9am, which will then be guarded by a warden.

The electrician will be provided with an unlimited amount of bread and water to get him through the hours he is expected to spend inside the barn, and he will also be given a few treats.

To donate, give money or a cheque in person at the barn ring Dave on 07778 458491 or text BARN07 £2/£5/£10 to 70070
