Man injured in M1 smash

A man aged in his 30s sustained minor injuries in a collision on the M1 last night.

The incident happened between junction 31 and 32 at about 9.20pm

His injuries were not serious and he was treated at the scene by emergency services.

A spokesman for the fire service said only one vehicle was involved in the collision.

Elsewhere, firefighters from Rotherham Central Station were called out to pump water from a flooded road in Rotherham.

St Anns Road was closed for about an hour from 10.20pm while excess water was drained.

Arsonists set fire to a car in Alpha Road, East Dene, at about 2.30am this morning.

Neighbours had already put the blaze out when firefighters from Rotherham Central Station arrived.
