A man injured in a Doncaster traffic collision last weekend has died.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident on Balby Road when pedestrian Maciej Sowulewski, aged 33, suffered a head injury when he collided with a black VW Passat private hire taxi just before 11pm on Saturday.

The taxi was travelling towards the town centre when it struck Polish-born Mr Sowulewski, a warehouseman who had lived in Doncaster for six years, near to the junction with Mansfield Road.

Officers believe the pedestrian, from Balby, had crossed the central reservation and the outside lane of the dual carriageway before the collision happened in the inside lane, causing damage to the front of the Passat.

He sustained a severe head injury and died the next day in Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
