Work will finally start next week to link the £56 million Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS) to Junction 3 of the M18.

The new airport link road from the motorway network to the south of Doncaster will unlock a range of projects which will drive inward investment, create thousands of jobs and boost the regional economy. The Doncaster Council-led project will support expansion plans at Robin Hood Airport and the new Enterprise Zone.

It will also see Harworth Estates build 1,200 homes on the former Rossington Colliery Site and allow the Rossington iPort – a strategic rail freight interchange – to get up and running.

Doncaster mayor Ros Jones said: “This important regeneration project is progressing well and the start of the tie-in works to existing motorway network is a major construction milestone. This new link road is instrumental to my economic growth plans for the borough and those of the wider Sheffield City Region.”

During Carillion’s work, lane closures will be installed on the slip roads and the roundabout at Junction 3 of the M18 from next Monday, March 31, for three weeks.

These will be in place during off peak hours on weekdays between 9.30am to 3.30pm in a bid to minimise disruption.
