A man and a woman from Wombwell have been charged in connection with a series of burglaries and appeared at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on January 18.
A 31-year old man is accused of four burglaries over Christmas and New Year, and possession of a bladed article.
His spree is thought to have begun on December 27, 2013, at Highstone Avenue, Worsbrough Common, when two mobile phones were taken from a property. On January 2 this year, the same man is alleged to have stolen a handbag and electrical items from a home at Park Grove, in the Locke Park area. A further two charges relate to January 7, 2014, when a laptop was taken from a house at Main Street, Wombwell, and a television from Burrows Grove, also at Wombwell.
A 29-year old woman is charged with handling stolen goods on December 28, 2013 and on January 8, 2014. These were a laptop computer from Main Street Wombwell and two mobile phones from Highstone Avenue, Worsbrough Common. The man was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on January 31. The woman was bailed until the same date.
