NEWS: News.

The widow of a well-known Doncaster fish frier has died seven months after losing her husband.

Rothwell’s fish and chip shops in the town centre are closed today as a mark of respect to Margaret Rothwell.

Her husband, Ron, , who retired in 2002, died last December at the age of 80.

The Rothwell family have chip shops in Doncaster Market Place and Copley Road, and most of their working lives were devoted to serving fish and chips to many thousands of customers.

The firm is still run by two of the couple’s four children and has become a fourth-generation business with three of their grandsons now working in the shops.

Ron and Margaret lived in Sutton and worshipped at Doncaster Pentecostal Church.
