Wath expertise for Japanese footy coaches
ASPIRING football coaches have flown all the way from Japan to study with a soccer sensei at Dearne Valley College.
Five football coaches from Japan made the trip to the Wath-upon-Dearne college specially to attend an FA Level Three course so that they could improve their coaching standards back home.
The Sheffield and Hallamshire Football Associations' learning tutor Steve Lister, who has delivered very popular coaching courses in Tokyo and Yokohama on behalf of the FA in the past, was instrumental in bringing the visitors to South Yorkshire.
Leigh Manson, Jason Leonardis, Michael Yeomans, Florin Cumpata and Colville Alexander are all actively involved in football at varying levels in Japan through their work with Total Football/Nike Japan and wanted to develop their coaching standards.
Steve said: "It was a great privilege to welcome these five coaches to South Yorkshire for this course. It was a tough week for all, yet extremely enjoyable and successful, but their commitment to travel such a distance to be with us is highly commendable and left our Japanese ambassadors excited and itching to get home and put their new-found ideas into practice."
