Police are warning Conisbrough residents to be on their guard after four burglaries in the area over recent weeks.
Sgt Andy Peplow told a meeting of the Conisbrough partners and Communities Together (PACT) that a pensioner had been targeted by a bogus salesman on Wortley Avenue.
The man had knocked on the door purporting to be selling items. The woman had agreed to buy something and her purse was stolen after she was distracted. Sgt Peplow said: “We urge residents to beware of people selling things door to door.”
