DNweekeND – Doncaster’s first ever Right Up Our Street arts festival has kicked off.
The festival includes free entertainment, performances and installations from local and international artists until Sunday.
From dry-land synchronised swimming experiences in the Sir Nigel Gresley Square fountains from Yorkshire Life Aquatic to the Pif-Paf Submercycle, where people of Doncaster were invited to journey on a voyage of discovery under the seas in the town centre, the weekend is promising the opportunity to discover or do something truly unique in the town.
DNweekeND is the first festival to be organised by Right Up Our Street, Doncaster’s successful bid to Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places fund.
DNweekeND is part of the Yorkshire Festival Fringe, the first ever arts festival to precede the Grand Départ in its 111 year history.
It will also be hard to miss DNweekeND – with a total of 48 events taking place across 14 locations around Doncaster and surrounding areas of Balby, Bentley, East and Mexborough, including performances, workshops and surprising happenings at The Frenchgate Centre and The Waterdale Shopping Centre, Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery, Sir Nigel Gresley Square (outside Cast), The Point, Doncaster Central Library and Mexborough Markets.
The festival concludes tomorrow.
